Easter bonnets for boys and girls

Last weekend we had great fun making Easter hats with our little ones.

The girls wanted pretty Easter bonnets with flowers and frills.
But coming up with a boys Easter hat (we're not allowed to call it a bonnet!) was a bit more of a challenge.

We started off with basic straw hats and a rainbow of coloured tissue paper.

We also had our craft basket of supplies including feathers, rhinestones and of course the essential fluffy chicks.

For the boys hat we also collected small sticks from outside.

We made pretty paper flowers...

...and with our crafting aprons on,
we began sticking and gluing in true Blue Peter style!

We ended up with tissue paper and glue everywhere,
but we all had lots of fun!

We are pretty pleased with the end results and can't wait to see the little ones wearing them in their Easter bonnet parades.

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter.

The Great British Sewing Bee

This week we were very excited to discover a new television show called The Great British Sewing Bee, will be hitting our screens this Spring.

The show is hoping to follow in the foot steps of the extremely successful BBC series TheGreat British Bake Off and aims to find Britain’s best amateur sewing enthusiast.

Each week the contestants will compete to demonstrate their sewing skills and impress the shows judges; May Martin, an acclaimed needlework work teacher and Patrick Grant, an award-winning menswear designer.

The show harks back to the days when the Queen Mother held sewing bees at Buckingham Palace during the war in the spirit of make do and mend.

It is hoped that the show will do for sewing what The Great British Bake Off has done for cake-making.  We hope so!

The Great British Sewing Bee starts on Tuesday 2 April, 8pm, BBC2.  We would really love to improve our sewing skills and will definitely be tuning in to watch it.

We'll keep you posted when we do our first sewing project.

Hello Spring!

Today is officially the start of Spring here in the UK!

We love seeing the flowers bloom and watching lambs frolicking in the fields.

We also can't wait for the lighter nights, warmer weather and picnics in the park.

This season we have some fabulous picnic baskets at Love from Rosie.  We just can't wait to try them out!

Let's hope we get chance to use them soon.

GreenGate and UNIQLO clothing collection

Last month we were extremely excited when we discovered that GreenGate have teamed up with one of the world's leading fashion brands, UNIQLO, to release a limited edition clothing collection.

Obviously we headed straight to the UNIQLO website to take a peek.
The collection draws on GreenGate's trademark floral, stripe and polka dot designs and includes ranges for women and children.

In particular, we really love these pretty feminine scarves

and these colourful tank tops are just perfect for summer.

The prices are so reasonable we have treated ourselves to quite a few!

The collection is sure to sell out fast so take a look before it's all gone.

Happy shopping!

Happy St David's Day

Happy St. David's Day - Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus!

On the 1st March each year we celebrate St David's Day in honour of St David (Dewi Sant), the patron saint of Wales.
Today our little ones are dressed in their Welsh costumes ready for the school eisteddfod and we have pretty Welsh daffodils on the table.
Time to make a fresh batch of Welsh cakes and have a nice cup of tea.

Hope you all have a great day.
