Somewhere over the rainbow

With the weather here in Wales so grey and miserable (we actually had hailstones May!), we thought we'd share some of the pretty photographs that have cheered us up this week.

Let's make it feel more like Spring!

There is nothing like beautiful flowers to brighten up the day.

We also love inspiring room schemes in delicate pastel shades.

Isn’t it wonderful how pretty colours can really lift your mood.

As the saying goes 'You can't have a rainbow without a little rain'.

Hopefully the weather will improve soon and we'll be able to head outdoors and enjoy some sunshine.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Step back in time: 17th Century Tredegar House

We have been making the most of the beautiful sunshine and have been out and about with the little ones. Last week we visited Tredegar House, a National Trust property in Newport, South Wales.

Set in 90 acres of beautiful parkland, Tredegar House is one of the most significant late 17th-century houses in the whole of the British Isles.

With more than 500 years of history there was plenty to discover!

We wandered through the impressive grounds.

Explored the fabulous gardens

and even raced up and down the stables on hobby horses!

Inside the house we experienced what life was like above and below stairs by touring the magnificent state rooms and servants quarters.

In the New Parlour we enjoyed playing traditional games and discovered how families would have spent their time in the days before televisions and computers.

The puppet theatre in particular was a huge hit with the little ones!

In the Great Kitchen we saw the types of food that would have been prepared for the household.

We also visited the butlers parlour

The housekeepers parlour

and saw all the sumptuous food that would have been served at a banquet in the State Dining Room.

We climbed the staircase and discovered a luxurious bathroom and bedrooms

The house also runs a basement tour (where Doctor Who has been filmed) and there is a big lake to explore.

Unfortunately, by this time we were all getting rather hungry so we finished the day off with tea and scones in the beautiful tea room court yard.

We would definitely recommend Tredegar House for a great family day out and can't wait to go back again soon!
